Peter Osgood

I am planning to recognise the career and achievements of Mr Peter Osgood during 2016. Mr Osgood was born in Kentons Lane and played for both Chelsea and England during a long career in football. He was known to many local residents and would be a great role model for many youngsters in our area had he still been with us. Sadly Mr Osgood passed away in 2006.

Osgood Park in Dedworth was renamed at the behest of residents and I am keen to remind users of the park with its connection to a legend of our national game. If you would like to help organise some events; take part in events or share your memories of Peter Osgood please get in touch with me or your Dedworth councillor.

Update- March 2016

Peter’s wife Lynn and sister Mandy Smith helped us to plant  a tree in the park to commemorate Peter.  Thanks to all who came along on a wet and windy day including the Chelsea fans from Dedworth and further afield!

Update- April 2017

A commemorative bench has now been installed in Osgood Park.  The bench was unveiled by the Mayor of the Royal Borough.  Peter’s widow, sister and Dedworth residents were present- the bench is being well used!
