White Horse Road now has two large “SLOW” signs at the Ash Lane bend. Working with the Council’s road safety team I organised a speed survey in this area last year. Although the survey showed that most vehicles generally travelled within the speed limit there were exceptions and speeds of more than 50 mph were recorded (even although the area was littered with utility works at the time!).
Late last year I secured a new “sharp bend” sign and a 30 mph sign for White Horse Road. These complement the flashing speed sign that is now regularly used in this area and, of course, the wheelie bin stickers that remind motorists that it’s a 30 MPH zone.
Hopefully the new road signs will remind motorists that White Horse Road is not a racetrack but a residential street where children play.
